Inert Gases used

As plasma gas mostly Argon is being used. Depending on torch type and weld current selected for a working task approx. 0,1 up to 1,1 l/min.  plasma gas are consumed.

As inert gas Argon or Ar/H2- or Ar/He-gas mixtures are used. By adding hydrogen or helium weld penetration is increased, respectively the weld speed can be increased for up to 20  %. The reducing effect of hydrogen lowers  the development of tarnishing the weld joints of high-alloyed steels. Depending on torch type and weld current selected 3 to 12 l/min inert gas is required.

To protect the root seam common forming gases are used (Ar, mixtures of Ar/N2, and Ar/H2).
