With plasma spot welding the pilot arc leads to a 100 %, HF-free ignition of the main arc

During the spot welding process the electrode is being protected by the plasma nozzle against splashes and vapour dispositons.

The higher energy density and lower beam divergence of the main arc lead to a considerably lower distortion of material. Different varieties of inert gas nozzles (plasma spot nozzles) guarantee an optimal protection of weld spots. Both provide the advantage that weld spots need no rework.

The plasma spot welding process is especially suited for welding several sheets of different material thicknesses preferably made of low- and high-alloyed steels or non-ferrous metals (except light alloys) with only one-sided accessibility.
With low contact pressure the components are reproducibly welded in overlap position. Here it is of great importance for the quality of weld spots that the components to be welded do not have any air gap.
The fields of application for plasma spot welding are numerous in stainless steel processing industry, automobile industry, machines and plants constructions, food industry, container and switch cabinet construction.
Different construction shapes of plasma spot nozzles made of stainless steel are available for most different applications of welding tasks like corner weld, fillet weld or overlap seam and ensure always the optimal position of the welding torch towards the workpiece.

Based on short welding times weld spots with very good reproducible weld quality and optic are obtained.
Settings of weld time from 0,2s up to 2,1s are effected with automated applications by the machine and for manual welding via a spot time remote control respectively spot time foot pedal.
